The best Balkan Wines and Spirits

The 2012 Barovo is similarly styled, with slightly more freshness and purity. Blackberry, blueberry, wild herbs, crushed rocks and ground herbs all emerge from the glass, and this full-bodied effort has integrated acidity, solid mid-palate depth and a great finish. It should thrill on release and evolve nicely for at least 3-5 years. Coming from Macedonia and a project with Eric Solomon and Philippe Cambie, these efforts are full-throttle, decadently styled wines that remain beautifully drinkable and balanced.
